At the end of the last week of July, the Myanmar junta’s armed forces, along with Muslim armed groups, invaded and destroyed the Myanmar Red Cross office in Maungdaw. The person in charge reported that they took many items, including medicine.
In the recent battle in Maungdaw city, the Myanmar junta forces and Muslim armed groups have been attacking the Arakan Army together. It is said that they have been seizing international humanitarian aid supplies, as well as stealing and destroying them.
Additionally, junta forces and Muslim armed groups have entered religious institutions, public buildings, and residential areas in downtown Maungdaw, resisting the Arakan Army, according to local residents.
The offices of the World Food Program and the International Committee of the Red Cross in Maungdaw Township were destroyed, and items and food supplies intended for humanitarian assistance were taken by the Myanmar junta and Muslim armed forces. It is also reported that the offices of international organizations and the United Nations office are being used as strongholds by these armed groups.
In addition, it is reported that schools, departmental offices including the fire station, and most residential buildings in the city have been broken into and destroyed. These places are reportedly being used as military bases by the Myanmar junta and Muslim armed organizations.
